Our Mission

Ward 5 Mutual Aid is dedicated to building a strong and supportive community in Washington, DC. We are committed to providing essential resources such as food, diapers, and supplies to our neighbors in Ward 5. Our organization operates on the principles of solidarity and mutual support, with no questions asked and no strings attached. We aim to make a positive impact by creating a network of care and assistance for those in need.
The difference between mutual aid and traditional non-profits (orgs & churches) is usually the people in power are the ones that come from privilege. With mutual aid, no matter your background or status, you are considered equal and treated as so. Anyone can volunteer their time and energy and we help to make you feel a valued community member.
